Quote of the Day

Tyler Cowen is skeptical that high speed rail proposals will ever come to fruition in an era of deficit awareness and anti-tax fervor.  He notes that choices are already being made that limit school funding, hamstring infrastructure development, and further curtail government revenue at the state and federal level.  To proponents of high speed rail who criticize Congress for perceived pro-automobile policy, he remarks:

It’s very important to have a theory of public choice which consists of more than simply criticizing the politicians, parties, and voters you do not agree with.

This advice, I think, is pretty universal, and never more important to consider.
