Failing History

From a new Marist Poll of Americans on the Fourth of July, we find that 26% of US residents don’t know who the United States declared independence from in 1776.  Unsurprisingly, this figure is even lower among low socioeconomic brackets.  More surprisingly, it is also very low among women (28% could not identify England/Great Britain).
