April Madness

If it seems that I’ve been postponing an eventual NCAA Tournament update, well, I have.  My bracket is busted, and bad.  Going into the final weekend, would anyone have thought that Duke would be the only one seed left in the tournament?  Or that in a region featuring Kansas, Ohio State, and Georgetown, 5-seed Michigan State would be representing the Midwest?

If there is one thing I’ve learned (finally), it’s this: never, ever pick against Tom Izzo.  Michigan State has made it to the Final Four in 6 of the past 12 years – that’s more than any other team (Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, etc.).  You can disregard season record, conference standings, or relative strength of the Big Ten – just keep picking Michigan State and your bracket will instantly improve.

It really is quite amazing – no player recruited by Tom Izzo to play at MSU has graduated without going to a Final Four.  What’s more – Michigan State is 7-0 all time in NCAA games played in Indianapolis.  So if we’re starting our brackets over, you know who I’m picking.

Saturday’s games:

(2) West Virginia v. (1) Duke

(5) Michigan State v. (5) Butler

Monday’s championship game:

(5) Michigan State v. (2) West Virginia

  1. 100%!!! Do me a favor and pick the Red Sox to win the World Series and Green Bay to win the Super Bowl!

  2. […] see – I have proven horrible at sports predictions in the past, and the Twins did just come out of LA with a series win against a good Angels team.  […]
