You’re So Millennial

The Pew Research Center has conducted a survey attempting to map “Generation Millennial”, an age subset they claim encompasses today’s young people between the ages 18-29.  In other words, anyone born in 1981 or thereafter is, ostensibly, a millennial.  Some of the interesting results:

  • There are 45.8 million of us – compared to 40.6 million Generation X’ers that made it to the 18-29 range by 1995.
  • Only 61% of us are white – the Baby Boomers were 77% white.
  • Twice as many Millennial women have gone to college as women in the Baby Boomer generation.
  • We’re pretty urban (32% cities, 54% suburbs, 14% rural towns).
  • Pew also features a “Millennial Quiz” that you can take to see just how well you match up with the profile of the Millennial generation:

    Your Millennial score is 90!

The higher your score, the more you have in common with members of the Millennial generation.

Guess that means I don’t have the change the website name any time soon.
