Top 15 Albums of 2010

You read the title right.  These will be the top 15 albums of 2010, if my anticipation is any judge (which it probably isn’t).  So I guess these are just 15 albums I’m most looking forward to.

  1. RADIOHEAD!  Just announced today, for late 2010 release.
  2. Arcade Fire – TBA (coming summer 2010 and rumored to be “better” than any previous release)
  3. Interpol – TBA (coming spring 2010 and supposed to be like 2002’s epic Turn on the Bright Lights)
  4. LCD Soundsystem – TBA (spring 2010)
  5. Daft Punk – Tron Legacy OST (coming fall/winter 2010)
  6. Spoon – Transference (out Jan. 19)
  7. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Beat the Devil’s Tattoo (out March 9)
  8. Broken Bells (aka Danger Mouse + James Mercer of The Shins) – Broken Bells (out March 9)
  9. Gorillaz – Plastic Beach (out spring 2010, and with Mos Def!)
  10. MGMT – Congratulations (out spring 2010)
  11. jj – jj no. 3 (out March 9)
  12. Röyksopp – Senior (out sometime in 2010)
  13. Massive Attack – Heligoland (out Feb. 9, and anticipated despite the averageness of the first single)
  14. Lindstrøm & Christabelle – Real Life Is No Cool (out Jan. 19)
  15. Hot Chip – One Life Stand (out Feb. 9)

Of course, there are still dozens – if not hundreds – of albums yet to be announced, so this list may be just a bit premature.

You probably recognize many of these artists from my list of the most prolific in the past decade and best albums of the past year.  With the exception of Massive Attack (seven years since the last album, guys?) they’re a busy bunch.

  1. I agree with this list totally, however have never listened to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (but trust your judgment). No Vampire Weekend huh?

AND I would have Gorillaz a little lower. That is all – this list makes me excited for 2010.

  2. Is that Radiohead going to be an EP or a full LP? I remember some article where Thom waxed poetic about them wanting to use a shorter format in the future.

  3. […] Gorillaz – “Stylo” The new album comes out next week, and is pretty highly anticipated.  Lead single “Stylo” is a stylistic departure for the group, and features a low-key […]
