Now it’s not exactly clear from this graph which countries are considered “emerging” or “developed” but I would hazard a guess that three of the four BRIC countries (aka not Russia, but the rest) are considered emerging. And given both the rate and magnitude of growth in Brazil, India and China, this graph doesn’t tell us much – relative poverty and economic stagnation in, say, Mali or Malawi are still entrenched. But still, this graph captures in empirical terms the relative shift in international wealth underway.
